BBQ (23Feb)

Yup we bbq in the cold! The temp was still alright, a little chilly (~15 deg C). We bought the food from the Asian Market in the afternn and the chicken wings etc was prepared by dear Soo Whee (the one in blue T & shorts) & Ron (nt in any pic) & kind Melvn (brown T & jeans) drove them there. The food was just enough. Good! We had chicken wings/drumlets/thighs, sweet corns, hotdogs, crabmeat, fishballs(more like rubberballs). We gathered at the North so I gt to see SooWhee's & Ron's rm.

Then after the bbq, we discussed abt our NY trip which drag till almost 1am.. Then Soo Whee slpt over in my rm. Yup Soo Whee walked to the South (where me, wenhui, joyce are staying) bcos her rmmate's bf is staying over. Its inconvenient for her to stay ard, she thinks. So we chit-chat a little & STUDIED till 3am...

CNY at AUSTIN !!

Yup this is Austin! Of course they are more pics, but i didn't have them in my camera & i didn't have time to get them fr others. Basically, we set off on Friday night from College Station-there were 3 cars with total 13 people. We took abt 2 hrs to reach there (no stopping). It was quite fun bcos in the car that i was sitting, we kinda played alot of stupid games eg: hot seat( so for 2 mins, the other 3 pple in the car will kp shooting you qns which you muz ans as truthfully as possible) , etc. This game made all of us knew each other slightly better. Then we took turns to describe events - eg: the most embarrasing thing tt has happened to you; the craziest thing you have done, etc. It was entertaining. But all these have 1 basic rule: "what is said in the car stays in the car."

Then we had supper when we reached, & i met Kimberly! My SCGS sec sch friend! I knew i would be meeting her, bcos apparently the Austin pple who came to CLL earlier knew her, so we kind of had a common friend & so i knew she is staying in Austin. Too bad she had emergency & had to fly back to Spore over the wkend, so didn't have much chance to talk to her. All the girls (5) stayed over at Gillian's place.

Shopping
On Sat, we went SHOPPING!! There were 2 choices: 1 was the Mall the other was the Factory Outlets. Our grp kind of split into 2 each going to the different places to shop. But it was fun! CLL don't have such a big mall & we spent 1 whole afternn shopping.

CNY Dinner + Austin park
Then we had CNY dinner with the Austin people, we took up almost 5 tables! Then we went to Austin park where we played "Laser Tag" , Go- Karts, & Arcade games. By the time i slp, it was 4am.

Church
We head to Kirsten's Church at 8am & had lunch there. It was a pretty long lunch as we chit-chat with the pple. We set off for CLL when it was almost 3pm.

On the way back, it was another round of games, this time, there were only 2 cars going back, so it was 4 girls vs 3 guys. We bought a set of walkie talkies & we used that to communicate btw the 2 cars! It was hilarious! We played games like: name the countries fr A-Z. For each alphabet, we must exhaust all the countries tt begin with the alphabet. The side which gave up loses the round. We played till the letter I when the guys wanted a for-all round (ie tt round det who wins). HAHA, we won with a little outside help. Evelyn called her friend to ask them to search online! The country tt we name was the last on the website.

George Bush Library & the Interview

Its been 2 wks since i last posted on the blog. Been too busy. After the last post (13 Feb), i went down to George Bush Library for an interview (thurs, 15Feb) then set off for Austin (Fri, 16 Feb). Then i came back from Austin on late evening (Sun, 18 Feb) and I barely have much time to finish my 6 pieces of homewk due the following wk + studying for 2 exams which was on 22Feb & 23 Feb. Argh.

But there's the bbq at Crocker on Fri, 23Feb and our Int'l audition on Sun, 25 Feb. I'll blog more about these stuff later. I just finished my exam (today, 27 Feb) Okie, i shall start with the interview!

One of the pic with the horses is really a section of the Berlin Wall! During the Cold War, George Bush was very instrumental in bringing the Cold War to an end and the coming down of the Berlin Wall. So when Germany gt news that Bush is building his presidential library, they helped to construct this part.

More info: Graffiti appeared only on the western side as the eastern side of the Wall was guarded by the armed soldiers of East Germany.

The main reason for our visit there is because the 9 of us (exchange students), are the 1st time Texas A&M had exchange students from Singapore. We are so called the 1st batch! So, there's this reporter who wants to do an article on us, which will be featured in the University's annual book. Its not just a one-off thing, the reporter wants us to email her regularly to update her about our views/feelings/experiences. Ya, though it sounds like its v mafan that we have to keep updating her, she's really a very humorous, friendly lady so you won't feel like its a chore.

My package has arrived!!!

Yay!! My package has arrived! Whoops! I'm really excited.. It was super heavy lah, luckily some kind-hearted passer-by helped me to carry for a bit of the distance. I had to walk for abt 10mins with this, then climb up 3 flights of stairs to my room! I was sweating like mad in the cold weather. *Can you imagine how heavy**Haha...

Wenhui's Bday!

Okay, i'm the mastermind behind this bday plan. Wahaha.. Basically what we did to her:

-2 of us bought cake.
-2 of us bought the bike (her present).
-3 of us decorate the room.
-2 of us met her at 4pm & kept her away fr her rm all the way.

1) 3 of us got the keys into her room from the RA- I stay in the same hall as her so i know her RA & I got access to the hall. (You nd a access card to each hall. So u can only enter ur own hall, u can't use ur access card to get into another hall.)

2) Before this, we got everyone else to write sthg for her on Post-its. Then 3 of us went inside her rm & paste the post-its ALL OVER her rm! Heh. Then on the floor we create the number 21 & place the bday cake on it. After which, we taped up her door with masking tape (all ard the sides & on the lock (so she can't put her key in) & the door knob (so she can't turn the knob). And we pasted the extras post-its on her door. And ask pple who walked past to write her a bday note if they don't mind.

3) Then we met everybody else for dinner at Chef Cao's. Nthg much happened there. We just sang her a bday song & let her believe that the celebration was over for her. We are afraid that she's too suspicious. Haha..

4) When we got back.... she was stunned to see 3 dustbins in front of her door. HAHAHAHA... The guys did this.

5) She took roughly 10 mins to remove all the tape & finally gt into her rm. We moved the cake to the TV lounge where she cut the cake. But we smashed the cake into her face. HAHAHA.....

6) Then we discussed abt the NY trip, Austin trip, & also abt the audition for International Week which is the next day. But its not over.

7) We got her to believe that we all are gg to the computer centre to find pics/videos for the International wk presentation. As we walked there, we stopped at Annex where her bike is parked.

8) We gave her the clue (blue thing with a blue lock). There weren't really many bikes there. She found it & she was stunned. Hahaha..

Dinner at Sarah's Place

Yay, this is the 1st time we are cooking our selves!! Our nice friends, Sarah & Jennifer (Sarah is Malaysian Chinese & Jennifer is fr Taiwan) offered to lend us their kitchen for dinner. So we bought groceries etc over, and cooked a nice dinner Chinese dinner for ourselves. There's Gary and Ming as well. So in total about 13 of us ate together. 9 from exchange while the 4 of them are actually students stuying full-time here.

The main cook is Ron: the guy in the bottom most pic. while the helper is Soo Whee on the right of the pic. The topmost pic is the actually the people who acutally helped in the cooking! haha, i'm not inside bcos i had French lesson so came late tog with the rest of the other pple. But i got help in the washing up. Wenhui & I-just 2 of us, helped to wash the dishes. We watched Wedding Crashers-super hilarious.
